Goa is set to witness another significant infrastructure development with a proposed ₹140 crore international convention centre at the Tuem Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Pernem.
The project is planned across approximately 23,988 sq. metres within the larger Tuem EMC and is proposed to be developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model).
A New Business & Convention Destination
The proposed convention centre is envisioned as a multi-purpose destination featuring an international convention centre, exhibition facilities, conference spaces, a hotel, co-working spaces, retail outlets and food courts.
The main convention hall is planned to accommodate approximately 2,000 people, while the banquet facility is expected to accommodate around 1,000 guests. The development will also include a 50-room hotel, approximately 30 co-working units and basement parking for more than 1,000 vehicles.
Strategic Location Near Mopa Airport
One of the key advantages highlighted for the project is its proximity to Manohar International Airport at Mopa.
The airport’s connectivity can make the proposed centre accessible to business travellers, companies, conference delegates and visitors arriving in North Goa.
Smart Infrastructure
The proposed convention centre is also planned as a technology-driven facility. The project documents include provisions for AI-controlled utilities, facial-recognition surveillance, crowd monitoring and robotic assistance for cleaning, security and visitor services.
Potential Impact on North Goa
The proposed development is part of the wider vision for the Tuem EMC, which spans approximately 5 lakh square metres.
The state government expects the convention centre to support MICE tourism — Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions — along with technology events and industrial exhibitions. The project could also create activity for surrounding hospitality, transport, retail and service businesses.
However, according to the report, construction is not expected to begin for at least another two years, so the project’s timeline remains an important factor to monitor.
What This Means for Goa’s Real Estate Landscape
Large-scale infrastructure and business developments can influence the growth of surrounding areas by increasing commercial activity and demand for hospitality, retail and supporting services.
With the Tuem EMC, Mopa International Airport and other infrastructure developments contributing to the region’s growth, North Goa continues to attract attention as an emerging business and investment destination.
For property buyers and investors, understanding upcoming infrastructure projects can provide useful context when evaluating the long-term potential of a location.
